Last Basketball Trip

This last weekend was our final games of the basketball season. We ended the season with 2 losses. On Thursday night we lost to McMurry University by 2 points and on Saturday we lost to Hardin Simmons by 1 point. Although we ended with two losses we showed maturity and growth throughout the season and ended with two hard fought games. We played well in both of our final games so hopefully it will spring us into our offseason with good attitudes going forward. This entire season we have struggled when playing teams on the road. Our games this weekend were in Abilene so by playing well in these games it showed our growth as the season transpired. Hopefully this growth and maturity will continue forward until next season.

Lone Star is okay...somewhat boring

I thought John Sayles’ Lone Star was a decent movie, but somewhat boring. It was just interesting enough for me to not start daydreaming. Sayles’ used confrontation well throughout the movie to portray themes of relationships between father and son and the issue of borders. I also thought the movie could’ve used a little more intensity. I know that this movie was set to portray a small town but I thought it was somewhat boring. It seems as though John Sayles’ is worried so much about trying to make sure he gets his focus points across to the audience that he forgets about all the aspects that make an entertaining movie. I believe that if he would’ve had made the movie a little more interesting with more intensity, it would’ve helped get across his points and themes better than he did.

TLU Basketball

TLU Basketball

Many people know what it feels like to be under pressure, and handling it is sometimes difficult. I state this because I am a member of the TLU basketball team and we have put ourselves in a little bit of a hole. We must win all of our remaining six games to have a chance to make the playoffs. We slipped up against a couple of teams that we should’ve beaten and now our backs are against the wall. We, as a team, are under a tremendous amount of pressure to win these next six games. We cannot tense up and be nervous about these upcoming games, but must look at this as a great opportunity to grow as teammates and as people. We must take advantage of this opportunity and things might fall right into place for our team. Hopefully you can come out and support us at our home games this weekend and wish us luck the rest of the way.
